According to Huynh Quang Hung, Vice Chaiman of Phu Quoc’s People Committee, as of the end of July 2015, Phu Quoc has attracted 196 projects.
In particular, 136 projects are under construction on a total area of 5,110 hectares. Recently, property giants like Vingroup, Sun Group and others are building remarkable projects such as resort chains, restaurants, five-to-six-star hotels, amusement parks to serve visitors coming to the island.
Meanwhile, project Phu Quoc zoo is forecasted to bring more opportunities, advantages and potentials of development to the island in particular, Kien Giang province in general. It will help Phu Quoc boost the competitiveness with other tourist destinations in Vietnam and Southeast Asia countries such as Phuket (Thailand), Bali (Indonesia), etc.
Kien Giang’s People Committee has just approved a policy that allows Sun Group to invest a cableway project from An Thoi town to Hon Thom commune and a complex of amusement parks, marine leisure and resort services on Hon Thom island. It is reported that the total investment of this project is about VND10 trillion. The project is expected to be completed and put into operation by 2017.
Property developers have also constructed projects of restaurants, 5-star hotels and resorts on Bai Truong and other beaches of Phu Quoc island. It is said that the island has been a great construction site to promote tourism development for serving international and domestic visitors.
In addition, Phu Quoc international passenger seaport, which is under construction now with total investment of over VND1.6 trillion, is expected to attract a large number of foreign tourist ships to Phu Quoc by 2017.
Vice Chairman of Phu Quoc’s People Committee added, the island district is attempting to attract more international and domestic investors with financial strength. The district also proposed Kien Giang province, related ministries and agencies to create the most favorable conditions for investors to implement the project.
